The second International Masonry Society Student Awards have been made.There were two categories, one for undergraduates and one for postgraduate students.
Following the recommendations of the judging panel, awards have been made in each category.
In the Undergraduate category, two awards were made, both of which were Highly Commended, to each student as follows:

• Timothy Hancox, a student at the School of Engineering at the University of Bolton, for his paper ‘Assessment and Improvement of Structural Performance of Residential Masonry Dwellings Subjected to Seismic Loading in Haiti’. His submission was nominated by his academic tutor, Dr Abbes Berrais.

• Samuel Cocking, an undergraduate in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, and nominated by his academic tutor, Dr Matthew Dejong,
  for his project ‘The Effect of Wind on the Loading and Vibration of Stone Pinnacles’.

In the Postgraduate category, two awards were also made, both being Highly Commended as follows:

• Dr Shahriar Agaajani from the University of Luxembourg, for his paper ‘Numerical Analysis for the determination of Stress Percolation in Dry-Stacked Wall Systems’, nominated by his supervisor, Professor Daniele Waldmann, in the Facutly of Sciences, Technology and Communication.
• Mohammadmahdi Daryadel, a student in the School of Mechanical, Space and Civil Engineering, University of Manchester, for his entry ‘Optimisation of FRP Strengthening Systems for Masonry Arch Bridges’, nominated by his supervisor, Dr Lee Cunningham.

Each student will received £150 prize, a certificate and free Society membership for a year.

No recommendation was made in 2015 for the Arnold Hendry Award.
