Abstract
This paper discusses problems associated with the installation of wall ties in new and existing masonry structures. It also comments on design/workmanship; quality control; tolerances; corrosion; methods of detecting wall ties in existing work; installation techniques for replacement ties and recommendations for research and revision of current British Standards and Codes.
