Abstract

This paper proposes a summary of the research and development work carried out at University of Liège during past years about the behaviour and design of masonry houses subjected to low-to moderate seismic action. In particular, the following aspects are presented: (1) background studies and practical elaboration of a “technical guide for Belgian masonry houses”, (2) shake table testing of 2 small houses, including comparison between different levels of normative approach to assess the resistance of these 2 houses and (3) parameter studies to calibrate NDPs in chapter 9 of Eurocode 8.
