Abstract

After the collapse the history of the structure was examined, together with tests on the building materials used. The aim was: to understand the time-dependent structural behaviour of the tower up to its sudden collapse; to define a methodology for surveying unsafe structures; to acquire more detailed knowledge of the behaviour of existing structures in order to identify and prevent hazardous situations.
