Abstract
The British Masonry Society (BMS) was formed in 1986 to bring together all the many people and organisations that share a keen interest in the use of all forms of masonry construction. The Society established in 1988 a Masonry Strategy Forum to encourage the development of the use of masonry to meet both present and future construction needs. The Forum set up Working Groups in four fields: Codes and Standards, Construction Practice, Education and Training and Research and Development Requirements. The paper describes the creation and purpose of the Masonry Strategy Forum and its Working Groups and the progress made in their developing programmes of work.
