Abstract
Stress relaxation and creep are reported for clay masonry units. Using different analytical methods developed from concrete technology, relaxation is predicted from the creep and compared with the measured relaxation. The relaxation predicted by other methods is also compared with the measured relaxation.
In general, the analytical methods overestimated the amount of stress retained by between 30% and 100% apart from the rate of creep method which accurately predicted the observed relaxation.
