Abstract

A unique technique for testing masonry waits under transverse lateral load is described and the results of tests on more than 80 single leaf and cavity walls of various configurations are discussed. Methods of analysis are considered and the strengths predicted by applying moments of resistance on various flexural stress derivations are compared with test results. Alternative techniques for determining flexural properties of masonry are proposed.
