Abstract

The analysis of brick masonry panels under lateral load using a non-linear finite element program is described. Studies of the effects of various parameters on the values of failure pressure of the panels have been carried out and are presented. The analytical results have been compared with the predictions of BS5628 and with experimental and analytical results obtained by others. Based on the above, comments on the existing design method in BS5628 are made.
