Abstract
This paper presents the results obtained in the research study “Analysis of the behavior of vertical connection of prefabricated structural ceramic panels in the presence of vertical shear stresses”. In general, the connections between prefabricated structural ceramic panels show similar behavior to that obtained with indirect connection of masonry structures. This fact together with the lack of sufficient data to establish parameters that allow the consideration of the interaction between the panels have induced the use of the “Method of isolated Walls” for designing of buildings prefabricated in structural masonry. Therefore, tests were carried out to investigate the behavior of a connection using mortar and steel. These results demonstrate that the connection model and the properties of the materials used significantly influence the performance of the structural panels/connections set. However, the results obtained from experimental tests and through numerical analysis showed that generalization could lead to errors, since the evaluated connection model presented interaction between the central panel and the end panels.
